As the days are getting shorter and the weather's getting cooler, we begin to get ready for the fall. Personally, fall is my favorite time of year because 1) I love wearing sweaters and 2) there are so many activities going on. While summer seems to last forever, the fall/winter goes by so fast. In October, we're getting ready for Festifall, after that's over and before you know it, we're getting ready for TurkeyBowl and Thanksgiving, then its Christmas and the PR1ME Christmas Banquet and bam, its 2009.
While all this is going on, your SALT team will be hard at work putting together something that we as a group are very excited about. The past few months we've been discussing/praying about putting together a Singles Conference and God answered us big time! Now my initial reaction to having a Single Conference was, wow…how are we going to get people to come out to this? I mean, honestly, we all know what is going to be talked about. Relationships, sexual purity, finding the right mate, etc…and, yes, these topics will be discussed. However, the vessel that God provided to talk about these topics is somebody who is perfect for the job. Most of us know Pastor Tae Shin (www.pastortae.org)…he's spoken at our church on Sundays and was our speaker at one of the past Family Camps. He conducted a Marriage Conference for our Homebuilders last year but did you know that his real passion is for us singles?
A few months ago, the SALT team met with Pastor Tae to discuss how this conference could work. The things he would talk to us about were so insightful and so well put together that we came out of the meeting energized and excited about this event. We can read the books of the Gospel hundreds of times and each time we'll get something new and exciting out of it. Think of this Singles Conference as the same thing. We will be talking about topics you've heard before, but you'll get a lot of new things out of it. We're really excited to plan this event not just for you but for all of us…and if it were lame, trust me…we would squash it like a bug. It's going to be great.

- Being single is a gift from God and can be used greatly for His glory. Oftentimes social pressures may dictate that singleness is to be avoided or remedied, leaving singles feeling out-of-place in a world that is seemingly geared towards couples and marriage. Prime exists to "solidify our identities in Christ" as single adults. 2 Peter 1:3 reads, "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness." According to this passage, we can strengthen our identities in Christ by growing in our knowledge of Him. It is our hope and prayer that this ministry would empower singles to take ownership of their identities in Christ during this unique sate of life.

dan! :) haha...i love your first reason for liking the fall. you are too funny! and YES...you perfectly captured my initial skepticism and concern at the prospect of a conference and then the drastic post-meeting transformation into curiosity and, dare we say, excitement at the idea! :) i cannot wait for this conference!!! woohoo~~!!! (can you feel the excitement? :P)
